Data included in this report were gathered primarily from long-term care facilities and assisted living residences, health authorities, the Ministry of Health, the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI), and BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) as follows:
Sources by report section:
Long-Term Care Facility
- Facility information is reported by the Managers/Directors of Care at each facility except for wait times which are reported by health authorities
- Resident fees for personal services and contracted services are reported by the Managers/Directors of Care at each facility
- Beds and total funded direct care hours are reported by the Ministry of Health
- Food costs, facility per diem, monthly client rate and licensing data are reported by health authorities
- Resident profile and care services and quality indicators are reported by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) except for emergency room visit information is reported by health authorities
- Influenza vaccination coverage is reported by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and COVID-19 vaccination coverage is reported by the Ministry of Health
Assisted Living Residence
- Residence information is reported by the Managers/Directors of Care at each residence except for wait times which are reported by health authorities
- Resident fees for personal services and contracted services are reported by the Managers/Directors of Care at each residence
- Units, services provided and Assisted Living Registry information are reported by the Ministry of Health
- Funding (i.e., personal care hours, food costs and monthly client rate) is reported by health authorities
- Resident age, gender and length of stay is reported by health authorities and other indicators in resident profile table are extractions from the Home Care Reporting System (HCRS) and Home Care Reporting Home and Community Care Minimum Reporting Requirements (HCCMRR); all indicators in resident profile table for NHA is reported by Northern Health
- Clinical indicator data are extractions from the Home Care Reporting System (HCRS) and Home Care Reporting Home and the Home and Community Care Analytic-Ready Object (HCCARO); all indicators for Northern Health is reported by Northern Health
- Influenza vaccination data are extractions from the Home Care Reporting System (HCRS) and Home and Community Care Analytic-Ready Object (HCCARO); Northern Health data are not available in HCRS
- COVID-19 vaccination data is reported by the Ministry of Health
