At the October meeting, the Seniors Advocate consulted the Council of Advisors on key issues affecting older adults, including housing and homelessness, and supports for ageing in place. Members also identified and prioritized pressing issues in their regions, ensuring local perspectives guide the future work of the office.

Guest speakers included Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., who shared insights on culturally appropriate seniors’ services, and Alison Silgardo, CEO of Seniors’ Services Society of B.C., who spoke about the successful SHINE program supporting seniors with housing security and homelessness prevention.

The meeting concluded with heartfelt thanks to retiring Council members Barb Mikeluc, Geraldine Hinton, Jerry Gosling, Sandy Zeznik, and Dawn Hemingway for their service, dedication, and commitment to improving the lives of older adults across the province.
